India's Railway Minister from 1947 until 2023: Verify Names, Position, and  Party

These data highlight how vital it is for a railway minister to do their job. India has had 41 railway ministers between 1947 and 2023. Thankfully, every minister has performed admirably. Ashwini Vaishnaw – Current Railway Minister of India

Ashwini Vaishnaw is the current Union Minister for Railways. Vaishnaw, who was born on July 18th, 1970, was a former IAS official. He joined the BJP in 2019 and represents the state of Odisha in parliament.

As a cadre member from Odisha, Vaishnaw joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1994. He has performed a variety of jobs in Odisha, including those of district collector in the districts of Cuttack and Balasore.

He was promoted to deputy chairman of the Mormugao Port Trust in 2006, and he continued there for the next two years. He eventually left the civil service in 2010 to work in the private sector. Vaishnaw won the Rajya Sabha election without running against anyone with the help of Biju Janata Dal.

John Matthai – First Railway Minister of India

Economist John Matthai served as India's first Minister of Railways. On January 10, 1886, he was born into a Syrian Christian Anglican family. He was also India's Finance Minister. In addition, John Matthi served as the State Bank of India's first governor when it was founded in 1955. He was a founding member of the National Council for Applied Economic Research (NCAER) Board of Directors in New Delhi.

He received the Padma Shri Award in 1954 from the Indian government, the fourth-highest honour given to an Indian civilian, in recognition of his contributions to society. In 1959, he received the Padma Vibhushan. Verghese Kurien, his nephew, is widely regarded as the main brains behind India's White Revolution.

NOTE:-John Matthai served as India's first independent railway minister. Asaf Ali, on the other hand, served as the interim minister of railways under Pt. Nehru's leadership from September 2, 1946, until August 14, 1947. 

Mamata Banerjee – First Women Railway Minister of India

India's Railway Minister was Mamata Banerjee twice. She is the nation's first female minister of railroads. She is also the second female coal minister and the minister for youth sports, women's issues, and human resources development.


Mamata Banerjee is the West Bengal chief minister at the moment. Banerjee was raised by Bengali Hindu Brahmins in Calcutta. When she was 17 years old, her father passed away from a lack of medical care. She gained media prominence in 1975 when, during a demonstration, she danced on the car of socialist leader and activist Jayaprakash Narayan.

In the Lok Sabha well on December 11th, she grabbed Samajwadi MP Daroga Prasad Saroj's collar. Mamata Banerjee received an invitation to the Rome World Peace Conference in 2021. The only Indian invited to the gathering was her.
